Preserving the Past, Providing for the Present and Preparing for the Future.
ATKISSON, Douglas Eugene "Doug", a resident of Wetumpka, Alabama passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the age of 83. Mr. Atkisson is preceded in death by his wife Winnie Atkisson; parents Pete & Mary Atkisson; and sister Carmen Atkisson Maness. He is survived by his children Marilyn Rhodes, David (Paige) Atkisson, Genye (Russell) Weaver; sister Mary Ann Atkisson Lee; brother Joe Atkisson; grandchildren Robert Douglas Atkisson, Reginald Bennett Atkisson, Jonathan Rhodes, Jennifer Henley; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1956. He never forgot his roots in the Red Hill Community and nothing made him happier than going back home to visit family and friends. He was faithful supporter of the Red Hill Community Club for many years. He attended Red Hill School in the 1940's and 1950's. He is shown here chatting with Roma Lee Taunton Graf during the 2018 Reunion.
On March 15th of 2017, Red Hill Community Club lost one of its most dedicated and hard working members. Ken Crum was a wonderful, kind hearted man as well as a faithful worker for all things and projects pertaining to our club. He loved our organization, our activities, and he really loved our old building. He was so into historical preservation and many times would comment on how wonderful it was to be involved in the preservation of our old building. It seemed ironic that we had so many people native to our area that had little interest in the building; and yet this Massachusetts born late comer to our area, by way of California, living almost 30 miles from the community, was so into our historic old building. Ken we shall miss you very much and we know that your sweet wife Rosalinda will endure many lonely moments with your being gone. We also know, as Christians, that you are at home with the Creator of the universe.
Vernon and Millie Reynolds moved from the hills of Tennessee to the shores of Lake Martin in the early 1970's. They early on became members of the Red Hill Community Club and took on the project of restoring the old Red Hill School building with fervor and enthusiasm. Millie was an especially upbeat, positive person whose smile adorned her face almost like a halo. They remained members until their health began to wane. They made it to their 70th wedding anniversary but were not able to celebrate because of Millie's health at the time.

My heart is heavy and aches for Rosalinda and her loss. What a treasure Ken was to the Red Hill Community Club. O that some others would share the passion that Ken had for our historical building.
